About us

Whoever you are, we have a choir for you. We believe that everyone has the potential to be a singer. So come sing with us!

Our Choirs

All choirs learn their own sets of songs which they perform in concerts separately. They also rehearse a short programme to perform together as a massed choir. For example, medleys from shows such as West Side Story, Les Miserables, Andrew Lloyd Webber highlights. It’s a fabulous experience singing with such a powerful sound.

Platform One

Wednesday 9.30 – 11.00
Screen 2, at The Station

For anyone who likes to sing.

This is a beginning level choir suitable for people who would like to sing, but have not had much experience of singing. You may not read music, or haven’t sung since you were at school, but really want to have a go, and be able to enjoy singing.

The material includes popular songs, folk songs, songs from the shows, spirituals and a dash of world music. Some are in simple harmony, some are in unison. Any sheet music reading is explained as we go along in an informal way.

The group is very friendly, and many stay on for coffee after the rehearsal. Over the years great improvements have been made in both singing ability and confidence.

Platform Two

Wednesday 11.15- 12.45
Screen 2, at The Station

For singers who have music reading skills.

We sing a broad and interesting repertoire similar to Platform 1 above, however the part singing is much more demanding. Some songs are chosen from mainstream "classical" repertoire. We like exploring new composers.

This group works from sheet music and includes more demanding part singing. Mainly in 4 parts, we have occasionally sung in 7 parts.

It is a friendly and welcoming group with plenty of support for brushing up on current singing skills and developing new ones. Socially there are opportunities for coffee before or lunch after at The Station.

Branch Line

Thursday 19.45- 21.15
Richmond Town Hall

For Women's Voices, music readers and non-music-readers alike (Sopranos and Altos)

Some of the members work, or have other activities/ commitments on a Wednesday morning, and so can only join us on a Thursday evening. A great mix of singers and abilities.

There is a varied and interesting repertoire ranging from simple to more complex harmonies.

We sing from sheet music, with explanations along the way to help music reading if this is new to you. The songs chosen are a variety ranging from choral pops through to folk songs, spirituals and some world music. We like singing gospel songs too.

The atmosphere is both friendly and enjoyable, and we move at the pace of our members.

Doors open at 19.00 for a cuppa and chat before the rehearsal starts.
