Richmond Station Singers
Just so we can keep in touch, and to keep those vocal chords in practise, our second Sing for Pleasure morning will be held on
Wednesday 21st June, 10.00-13.00 in Screen 2 at the Station.
The workshop will be on mainly new songs from our Rogers and Hammerstein medley – With a song in your heart.
Anyone can come – you don’t have to be a Station Singer. In fact this is a good way of finding out if you like what we do!
The cost is £6. Pay on the day.
Arrive from 9.30 to collect your music and find a seat.
There will be a refreshment break, when you can avail yourself of the facilities of the Station – coffee, ice cream etc
Our music for the coming season will be our usual winning mix of old and new crowd pleasing songs, in a range of different musical styles with the aim of finding pieces to suit everyone's tastes. The overarching theme for 2017-2018 will be "The Sea", with "South Pacific" being the main work for all choirs to learn. We have a new selection of Christmas songs to work on, including a few old favourites too.
New members are always welcome.
Fees for 2017-2018 - £100 early birds for both terms (payment by 1st September) or £55 per term.
REGISTRATION OPENS ON JUNE 21st at the workshop.
The Station Singers are three Community Choirs, two of which are based at The Station, Richmond. The third rehearses at the Town Hall.
Anyone who wants or likes to sing is welcome to join. There is no audition. All the choirs are very friendly and welcoming. We have fun, enjoy our singing and really improve our sound over time.
Each term ends in a performance which is a culmination of the best songs learnt that term. The choirs perform separately and together. Each one has been a great night out so far, and we have raised £1000s for local charities.
If you are not sure which choir is for you contact us to discuss which will suit you best.
The bursary fund is available for those who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend Station Singers. You can phone or apply in writing for this. A member of the bursary committee will also be available at registration sessions.
Our recent Spring Concert raised over £700 each for our two local hospices, St Teresa's and Herriot Hospice Homecare.
